Motors are now an indispensable part of our daily lives. It is claimed that motors use 55% of the electricity generated around the world today. This is why the research and development of motors is now a truly significant theme for both creating affluent lives and permanently conserving the global environment. To further promote motor-related technological researches and developments, we will start accepting applications for the 11th Nagamori Awards, as described below:

Application method | Self-nomination or nomination from academic institution are accepted. A recommendation letter by an expert in the field covered by the Awards, or a senior member of your Academic Society, organization, research department, etc. must be submitted. |

Awards & prizes | Nagamori Awards will be given to approximately six people. The winner of The Grand Nagamori Award will be announced during the Awards ceremony. The Grand Nagamori Award winner will receive a prize of 5 million yen, and each of the Nagamori Award winners will receive 2 million yen. |

In principle, these documents and information should be in either English or Japanese. Documents or information written in any other language may not be used as reference.
※ Please note:
Nagamori Awards aim to recognize the works of those who achieved innovative research and development results especially through active engagement in motor-, actuator-, and power generation-related research to address such major issues as “creating affluent lives” and “permanently conserving the global environment.” Any format may be used to describe your innovative research or development achievement so long as it is in a field covered by our Awards, but your achievement must be clearly understood in a form of writing such as a thesis, a patent, or technical report (written by you alone or jointly with others).
Please apply by E-mail, attaching all the documents in①above and also physically mailing us the hardcopy of the documents as well. The mail containing the documents should be postmarked on or before January 31, 2025. The Word files designated by Nagamori Foundation, that include a written recommendation, a curriculum vitae, and a record of your achievements should be mailed in their original format, not converted into an image file (PDF, etc.).
Please kindly notify us immediately after you have mailed your documents by emailing us at n.awards@nidec.com, with a title, “Nagamori Awards Application (Your Name)”, attaching all your application documents electronically.
※ Please note:
① Candidates must attend the Awards ceremony to be held on September 07, 2025, give a lecture in English, and submit all the documents requested by the Secretariat (Nagamori Foundation will bear travelling expenses and accommodation fees for the winner and his/her companion to attend the Awards ceremony).
② Candidates, regardless of their nationality, domiciles, etc., must be able to communicate in either English or Japanese.
*No candidates will receive multiple Awards.
The winners of Nagamori Awards will be decided after strict judgment by an impartial panel of judges. No inquiries regarding the status or details of the judgment will be accepted.
The result will be announced on our Foundation’s website, and winners will be notified, in late May 2025.
Nagamori Awards winners who have been found in either of the following cases may have their Awards revoked or cancelled, and be requested to return their prize.
Awards winners, their achievements and lectures at the Awards ceremony, and other information are planned to be published on our Foundation’s website and other places.
