Nidec Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "the Company") is pleased to announce that the cumulative shipment of CDU (Coolant Distribution Unit) for AI servers has reached 5,000 units.
The Company has focused on liquid-to-liquid cooling technology as an optimal cooling solution for processors mounted in high-performance computing servers, particularly AI servers, and has developed an open liquid-cooling CDU. Mass production is carried out at our Ayutthaya plant in Thailand, and we achieved a cumulative shipment of 5,000 units by the end of November 2024. Moving forward, in response to the strong cooling demands associated with the upcoming release of NVIDIA's next-generation GPU Blackwell series, we aim to achieve a cumulative shipment of 10,000 units as the next step, accelerating the enhancement of our production lines and the launch of new products.
Our Ayutthaya plant in Thailand has been a manufacturing facility capable of mass-producing high-precision machined parts required for hard disk drive spindle motors, and has shipped numerous products both internally and externally. Through the production of CDU, we have maximized our manufacturing technology, and it has now developed into a major production base for cooling equipment.
With the increasing demand for generative AI, the liquid cooling equipment market is expected to continue growing, and the Company is considering expanding CDU production capacity to over 3,000 units per month in the near future. Additionally, we will enhance the facilities of our plants in Thailand, the Philippines, and China to increase the production of peripheral components used with CDU, such as cold plates (metal cooling plates for processors) and quick couplings (distribution pipe connection components).
As a thermal solution vendor, we are sincerely addressing the societal challenge of increasing power consumption associated with the evolution of AI technology. We will continue to provide essential products that support the technological foundation of an AI society and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
