An ultra-thin braking motor that incorporates a unique break structure in an axial air gap squirrel-cage motor. This is a dual-speed motor that combines a high speed motor and a low speed motor while retaining braking torque, and that retains much functionality in combination with reduction gears. This features ultra-thin configuration, compactness, and high braking torque, giving high retaining force and meaning no brake power source is required. Because there are no harmful impacts from water droplets from any direction, and the construction makes it difficult for dust to enter the motor, this is a fully enclosed type motor with no openings. The external cover is closed, and configured so that air from the surrounding environment cannot enter the motor, making it suitable for use in environments with adverse conditions, such as those that have high temperatures (for example, the tropics), high humidity, and large amounts of dust.
