Riser
The commutator in figure (a) is made up of three or more commutator segments. One part of the commutator segment, the part which can be raised, is called a “commutator riser”, or more succinctly a riser. The riser electrically and mechanically connects the start terminal and finish terminal of adjacent coils. Figure (b), shows the connections between terminals and risers.
