Hysteresis brake
When direct current is applied to the windings of a hysteresis motor instead of alternating current, a large braking force is generated. To take advantage of this characteristic, a hysteresis brake increases the braking force by using a claw pole type inductor on the stator, and is often used as an experimental load for various motor developments.
