Hand robot
The hand robot is a mechanical device consisting of motors and parts that simulates some of the functions of the human hand. Except for the thumb, the movements of the fingers of the human hand are carried out by muscles and tendons in the forearm. The photo below shows an instructional-purpose hand robot in which each finger is mounted with a DC motor with gearhead, wires, bevel gear, and torsion springs, which are used to flex and extend the finger. The bottom illustrations show the anatomical terms used to specify movements of the thumb.
