Basic stance

How the Nidec Group established its policy and identified its areas of focus

The Nidec Group decided its areas of focus based on its corporate scale to help its individual business bases to continue their social contribution activities. In establishing those areas, the Nidec Group drew a clear line between business-related social contributions and non-business-related ones, while enabling activities based on the One Nidec policy to improve Nidec employees’ engagement in social contribution activities.
It is essential for the Nidec Group to make “regional contributions” in gratitude for the support the group receives from the local community. In addition, with the recently launched STEAM* education program, it is important to educate and train the next generation of children, by sparking their interest in science, and helping them learn the fun of the subject and making things. Further, we must remember to consider our business activities’ environmental impact, and conserve the global environment and regional natural environment. The Nidec Group decided to make these three areas its areas of focus in its social contribution activities.

STEAM education (excerpt from the website of Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology):
A cross-curricular learning program that defines “A” in a wide range of areas including STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) as well as arts, culture, life, economy, law, politics, and ethics, to utilize lessons from individual subjects in identifying and solving problems in the real world.

Community Engagement Policy

Alongside efforts to deliver motor solutions capable of making a globally meaningful difference, we value our relations with the communities where we operate and partner with them to help address their underlying interests and needs. In determining how we can best contribute, we prioritize dialogues with the local residents and relevant organizations, based on respect for diverse regional and national cultures and customs.
