Nidec Sankyo Corporation (“Nidec Sankyo” or the “Company”) announced today that it has successfully developed a new duct damper for refrigerators.
The refrigerator is a product that represents white goods, and its market is expected to grow for a long term as, in recent years, electricity infrastructure is being developed in China, India, and other countries, and also as people spend more time at home and eat in amid the current pandemic. The duct damper is a component that controls temperature inside a refrigerator by running and blocking cold air inside it, and each refrigerator uses one to five duct dampersin it. Nidec Sankyo’s latest duct damper, which uses a newly developed geared motor, has a drive unit 52% smaller, and a unit as a whole 28% lighter, than conventional models. The Company has developed this new duct damper to meet the essential needs of making light, thin, short, and small components for refrigerators to secure sufficient capacity inside them.
