Business Activity-based Environmental Burden Reduction

Chemical Substance Management

As regulations are tightened around the world to minimize risks associated with the use of chemical substances to prevent environmental pollution and health hazards, our company uses and stores chemical substances in accordance with laws and regulations, and works to prevent leakage and reduce the release of these substances into the environment. We are also working to reduce the use and emissions of chemical substances through improvements in our production processes.
We have established a management system that is the basis of our chemical substance management and are promoting the acquisition of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001(*) certifications. In our chemical management system, decisions and measures put in place to prevent releases to the environment or adverse health consequences are implemented based on analysis of potential environmental impacts, hazard identification, and risk assessment. When introducing chemical substances into the workplace, we implement measures for spill prevention, and put plans in place for emergency preparedness.

Initiatives for the Total Abolition of Fluorocarbons

We are working toward the total abolition of fluorocarbon-target substances (generally employed as refrigerants), which are the main cause of ozone depletion. We are systematically switching to alternative fluorocarbon and fluorocarbon-free equipment that do not contain these substances.

Activities to reduce VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) Consumption and Emissions to the Atmosphere

We are working to reduce the amount of VOCs used and emission to prevent air pollution.
Until now, we were using coating materials containing toluene* in our products. In order to reduce the amount of VOCs used, we now promote the use of coatings or toluene-free coatings from the product design stage. Furthermore, in order to control the emission of VOCs into the atmosphere, we installed a system to adsorb VOCs with activated carbon before emitting them.
(*) Toluene is one of the VOCs.
