- Nidec Precision Corporation
Nidec Precision Corporation (the “Company” or “we”) has today announced that its business group has been contacted by an unidentified external group (the “external criminal group”) to be informed that they had hacked into the network of Nidec Precision Vietnam Corporation (“NPCV”), the Company’s subsidiary in Vietnam, to steal documents and files in its server. We later received a blackmail message demanding us to pay “ransom” (the “incident”).
While the company started consulting with outside experts immediately after this incident occurred, our investigations confirmed that part of NPCV-owned information has been posted on the website where the external criminal group claimed to have a sample of the stolen information.
So far, the Company has not been able to identify the specific extent of the data leak caused by this incident, we are determined to thoroughly investigate this incident and elucidate the case soon, while launching all available measures to prevent its recurrence.
Last but not the least, we deeply apologize for the tremendous anxiety and trouble caused by this attack that the external criminal group launched on NPCV. The Company pledges to exert its best efforts by utilizing any and all required resources to the fullest extent possible to solve this incident both promptly and properly.
The Company will, as necessary, inform people concerned of new facts promptly as they are identified.
