The first pottery wheel having a brushless DC direct drive motor in the ceramic art industry.
This means no belt or pulleys. The motor is only moving internal part and it is enclosed in a sturdy metal body.
Speed is controlled by a fixed foot pedal with a lever for hand operation.
Direction can be conveniently reversed by means of a switch mounted near the speed control.
The standard 300mm wheelhead is made of cast aluminum and is drilled into bat pins.
Another unique benefit of the direct drive motor is that the wheelhead turns freely in the off position that allows to be used as a banding wheel.
Safety is also a feature of this wheel. It has a built-in breaker to protect the motor from an overload.
Also, you must return the wheel to "0" RPM after a power interruption or changing direction to avoid sudden, unexpected starts which can damage your work.
The direct drive design means no vibration from pulleys, belts or tensioning devices. This gives you extremely smooth operation when throwing delicate ware. Starts and stops are precise.
