Background with NIDEC OKK
When we were looking for a new machining center with a flexible pallet container at the beginning of 2008, a new OKK HM630 machine delivered from Japan was immediately available. We set it up and worked with it for several months until the expansion of the tool magazine from 60 to 240 places and a Fastems flexible pallet container was delivered and installed at the end of 2008.
Q： Reason for choosing NIDEC OKK machines
We have been using an OKK MCV500 vertical machining center since the 1970s. The control system, main spindle drive and axis drives have been upgraded, but the basic mechanical structure of the machine has stood the test of time over thousands and thousands of working hours. The tool changer was simpler than on competitor machines and contributed to convincing us to go with the machine. That has proven to be an absolutely correct assumption over the years.
Q：Improvement after installing the machine
The investment in the machine had to be made because the previous capacities were no longer sufficient. With the HM630 from OKK in conjunction with the pallet station and the 240 tool magazine positions, our production capacity has increased significantly.
Q： About Special options
When we bought this machine, we made sure that it was a standard model so that we wouldn't have any problems with servicing in the long term. Of course, the 240 tool stations and the pallet station are a special version, but these also consist only of standard components.
Q：How do you use our machines?
We carry out large-volume milling and drilling work on the machine, as well as very precise machining. The machine is operated in a single shift and then continues to run unmanned during the night. The machining volume is so large that we use a chip container that is twice the size of other machines because a normal one would overflow during the unmanned shifts. Mainly, we use this machine to manufacture housings for our hydraulic rotary drives and steering/lifting axles (an invention from our company), but we also use it to manufacture the associated gear racks and gear wheels.
Q：Reasons to recommend our machines
This machine has fewer breakdowns than comparable machines from other manufacturers that are used in our company. We have had no problems with accuracy for years. We can always recommend NIDEC OKK with a clear conscience. The NIDEC OKK is a high-quality machine. There are no vibration problems and even when using large and heavy tools that push the machine to its limits, it does not break down.
Q：Future developments of your company
While the news from the industry in Germany is predominantly negative, we are currently bucking the trend and developing very positively. This is due to the fact that we have products developed in-house that we are constantly developing, and we are continuously optimizing our production and intralogistics processes.
