Nidec Corporation (TSE: 6594; OTC US: NJDCY) (the “Company” or “Nidec”) announced today that Nidec Motor (Dalian) Limited (“Nidec Motor (Dalian)”), a subsidiary of the Company, has held a ceremony to open a new plant in the city of Dalian, Liaoning Province in the People's Republic of China (“China”).

2. Background and the concept behind opening the new plant
In 1992, the Company established its first subsidiary in China, Nidec (Dalian) Limited (currently, Nidec Motor (Dalian) Limited), in the Development Zone of the city. Since then, Nidec (Dalian) has been mass-producing DC and fan motors for personal computers and automotive motors, among other products. This newly opened plant, Nidec Motor (Dalian) Limited, has been constructed in the China-Japan Eco-city in the city’s Jinpu New Area, as the industrial park’s first major project. The new plant will manufacture EMBs (electro-mechanical brakes), EWPs (electric water pumps), and other automotive motors, while planning to start mass-producing the E-Axle, the Company’s traction motor system, by around 2024. Additionally, the R&D center to start operating on the property plans to expand its workforce (currently approximately 500 people) to some 1,000 people in the future. By promoting its suppliers to carry out business in the Eco-city, the Company plans to build a Nidec-centered industrial cluster of automotive motors.
