April 2021
As its 50th anniversary in 2023 approached, Nidec established its New Corporate Philosophy with a view to a future of continued growth beyond the next 100 years.
The New Corporate Philosophy is based primarily on the Policy. It will continue to advocate Value as represented by the Three Essential Attitudes (“Passion, Enthusiasm, Tenacity,” “Working hard and smart,” and “Do it now; do it without hesitation; do it until completed”), Discipline and Code, which have been the source of the Nidec Group’s growth over the past 50 years, with two new additions. These are Mission, which clarifies the purpose of the Nidec Group’s growth and its raison d’etre, and Vision to be a global company that grows sustainably for the next 100 years and beyond and the world’s leading solution-providing business group that solves numerous problems for the people in the world.
May 2022
In May 2022, in the midst of a global semiconductor shortage caused by the U.S.-China trade war and the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the increased demand for semiconductors, Nidec established the Semiconductor Solutions Center at the Nidec Research and Development Center (Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture).
The purpose behind the establishment of this center was to build strategic partnerships with semiconductor suppliers and establish a sustainable semiconductor supply chain that can respond to any risks. Another aim was to ensure stable production and supply of Nidec’s own products, as well as to provide high value-added intelligent motor solutions that contribute to the preservation of the global environment by producing key semiconductors in-house (including outsourced development and manufacturing).
April 2023
At the 49th Regular Extraordinary General Meeting of June 2022, the first such meeting held since Nagamori returned to the position of CEO while concurrently serving as Chairman, the majority of attendees voted to change the name of the company in April 2023, the 50th anniversary of the company’s founding.
