Purpose of the Nagamori Awards
Since motors appeared in the early 19th century, they have been used in all types of electrical appliances and are now an indispensable part of our daily lives. And today a huge number of motors are used in a wide range of applications, so much so that it is claimed motors account for more than 55% of the world's power consumption today. Therefore motor research is extremely important if we are to maintain our affluent lives while also perpetually conserving the global environment. We created these Nagamori Awards to bring vitality to technological research of motors and related fields, such as generators and actuators, and also to support the researchers and development engineers who strive each day to fulfill their dreams.
