Squirrel-cage induction motor
An induction motor that uses a squirrel-cage rotor. Although a poly-phase distributed winding, as shown in (a), is normally used, there is also a single-phase operation system using one simple winding and 1or 2 short-circuit rings called “shading-pole coils” as shown in (b).
