Ring spring
Below is shown a conceptual diagram of a ring spring, which is used to achieve precise coupling between the motor and load. The ring spring consists of an inner ring and outer ring; when subjected to a compressive load, the outer ring is pushed outward while the inner ring is pressed inward. In other words, it employs the friction produced by the wedge effect to transmit torque. The ring spring is mainly used with servomotors rated at several hundred watts or greater.
