DC motor, AC motor
As shown in Fig. (a), the direct-current motor is a motor that is rotated by a DC power supply and is often
referred to as a DC motor. DC motors are roughly classified into brushed and brushless types.
An alternating-current motor is an electric motor driven by alternating current. AC motors are broadly
classified into
1) AC Commutator motors,
2) Synchronous motors, and
3) Induction motors. According to the type of power supply used, they are also classified into single-phase
motors that use single-phase AC, three-phase motors that use three-phase AC, and others.
