Glossary of Motor Terms
Conductor
This is a term that commonly appears in the theory of motors, and refers to the parts (AB and CD) that generate torque and counter electromotive force by acting with the magnetic field in the main part of the windings. In heavy electric machinery, a thick copper rod is placed in the groove of the iron core and the ends are welded with another copper wire to form the entire winding. Alternatively, in medium and small sized motors, as shown in the figure below, many coils are made from a single copper wire to complete the winding.
